La signora di “Attenzione pickpocket” è stata derubata… da un pickpocket :)

The "Attention pickpocket” lady was robbed... by a pickpocket

qualche giorno fa abbiamo parlato della voce di “Attenzione pickpocket”, cioè la signora veneziana che riprende i borseggiatori col suo cellulare e strilla per avvisare i turisti.

I suoi video, e la sua voce, sono diventati virali su TikTok e hanno ottenuto milioni di visualizzazioni, e lei è diventata una star dei social.

Insomma, proprio a lei è stato… rubato il cellulare, la sua arma!

L’autore del furto, inoltre, è riuscito a scappare tra la folla.

( …the cellphone was stolen from her)

In this sentence, the verb “rubare” (to steal) is used in the passive voice, and the subject of the action (the one who performs the action) is not explicitly mentioned.
In Italian, the preposition “a” is often used after the verb “rubare” when indicating the person from whom something is stolen. This usage is similar to the English preposition “from.”

The structure is:
> rubare qualcosa a qualcuno

Here are some examples:

  • Ho rubato i soldi al mio amico. (I stole the money from my friend.)
  • Il ladro ha rubato il portafoglio alla signora anziana. (The thief stole the wallet from the elderly lady.)
