Il nuovo Colosseo

The new Colosseum

Translation

The Italian Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, presented the project for the “new” Colosseum, the symbol of Rome. According to the project, the “new” Colosseum will be ready by 2023.

The new Colosseum will have a special wooden floor to create an arena, as in ancient Rome.

People, the Minister said, will be able to walk to the center of the Colosseum and see it as it was until the 1800s.

The aim of the project, therefore, is to make the Colosseum look like a theater again, as it did in the past.
In ancient Rome, the Colosseum had a wooden floor for gladiator and animal shows. Under the floor, there were service rooms for preparing shows.

In short, walking in the center of the Colosseum will be like traveling back in time: we will be able to see the Colosseum through the eyes of a gladiator or a lion.

What do you think? Would you like to visit the “new” Colosseum?
