A new law for the 'doggy bag' in Italy

Translation

In Italy, the habit of requesting a “doggy bag” at the restaurant, which is a container for taking home leftovers, has never gained traction.

According to analyses, 17% of customers request the container “rarely,” while 12% consider it impolite or feel ashamed.

To prevent unconsumed food from being thrown away, the government has proposed a law to make the “doggy bag” mandatory in all restaurants.

The initiative, already widespread in the United States and mandatory in France and Spain, has been well-received by Italians, half of whom are in favor of the law.
