“Speriamo solo che non si facciano prendere la mano”
(We only hope they don’t get carried away)

This Italian idiom can be translated into English as “to let things get out of hand” or “to get carried away.” It conveys the idea of losing control over a situation or going too far in something.
The only element that changes when conjugating is the reflexive verb farsi. The rest of the phrase remains consistent.

  • Non facciamoci prendere la mano! (Let’s not go overboard!)
  • Mi sono fatta prendere la mano con le scommesse e ho perso tutti i miei risparmi (I got carried away with betting and I’ve lost all my savings)
