You can time travel through Google Earth

Translation

Google Earth, Google’s service for viewing satellite images of the Earth, has added a new interesting feature: we’re talking about “Timelapse”, a function that allows you to observe changes in the territory over the past decades, thanks to the comparison of many images collected in different years.

For example, it is possible to observe the changes in some metropolises such as Beijing, New York, and Osaka. Or observe the impressive consequences of deforestation and environmental exploitation in some areas of the planet. But also, unfortunately, the effects of climate change on glaciers, which have continued to shrink for decades.

To create Timelapse, Google has added about 24 million satellite images taken between 1984 and 2020, thanks in large part to earth observation projects by the United States and the European Union.

And where would you like to travel back in time?
