"Blue Monday" is really the saddest day of the year?

Tutte, ovviamente, false.

Grammar

Superlativo Relativo
Relative Superlatives

How to say in Italian that someone or something is “the most…” or “the least…”?
To do this, we use the Superlativo relativo, which indicates that the quality of someone-something is at the highest degree of MAJORITY or MINORITY with respect to other things or people.
It refers to something-somebody having “the most” or “the least” of a certain quality.
It’s formed with the definite ARTICLE and PIÙ-MENO:

Majority → IL PIU + ADJ + di – fra – tra – in
Minority: → IL MENO + ADJ + di – fra – tra – in

– “Il Po è IL PIÙ LUNGO fiume italiano”

= Rome is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL city in the world

PIÙ-MENO may FOLLOW the noun, in which case the article is not repeated:

– “Il Po è IL fiume PIÙ LUNGO d’Italia”
= The Po is THE LONGEST Italian river

– “Roma è LA città PIÙ BELLA del mondo”
= Rome is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL city in the world

Translation

Today, Monday, January 16, marks “Blue Monday,” or “the saddest day of the year.” At least, that’s what many Italian and international newspapers and viral social media posts report. But is it true?

In truth, the story of “Blue Monday” (from the English word “blue,” which, in addition to the color blue, in Italian also translates as “sad” or “down in the dumps”) has nothing scientific about it, as many articles claim.

“Blue Monday” is actually a hoax (i.e., fake news) invented in 2005 for a Sky Travel advertisement. It was a great marketing idea that immediately gained a lot of success on the web.

Despite its falsehood, the legend of Blue Monday returns punctually every year, shared by newspapers worldwide and across all social media platforms, often with articles explaining its scientific origins. All of which, of course, are false.
