Finland ranked happiest country in the world

Translation

For the fourth consecutive year, Finland is the happiest country in the world, according to this year’s World Happiness Report.
Italy moves from 28th to 25th place, despite the terrible year just passed.

This year’s ranking had to analyze a totally new situation, namely the effects of the pandemic on people’s well-being.

One of the most important categories of the report was people’s trust in their own community. However, many analysts were surprised by the lack of an evident decline in the general well-being of people’s lives.

According to university professor Lara Aknin, although 2020 “was a very tough year, the data shows important signs of resilience, such as the willingness to social connection”.

Jeffrey D. Sachs, president of the organization that has been publishing the report for nine years, argues that we need to “learn the lesson that Covid has taught us: the pandemic reminds us of the urgent need to collaborate”.
