In Italian, the preposition “in” is used before a year to indicate a specific year, while it is not used before a month or a day.
For example, in the sentence “Nasce nel 1988″ (“He was born in 1988”), the preposition “in” is used before the year 1988.
However, if we were to say “Nasce il 25 febbraio 1988” (“He was born on February 25, 1988”), we wouldn’t use the preposition “in” before the month or the day.
Note that the use of “in” is generally used when indicating a specific month of a year, while il or l’ is used when indicating a specific day.
