Grammar

Pronome diretto CI
Direct object pronoun CI

“Grazie per averci fatto sognare”
(Thank you for making us dream)

A direct object pronoun replaces a noun used as a direct object, it must therefore agree in GENDER and NUMBER with the noun it refers to.
For the 1st person PLURAL we use the pronoun “CI”:

1ª P. (= noi) → CI (= us)

Normally comes before the verb:

– “Luca CI ha invitato alla sua festa”
= Luca invited US to his party

BUT: if there are two verbs, or the verb is in the gerund, imperative or infinitive form, the pronoun follows the verb:

– “Vieni a prenderCI (= noi)!”
= Come pick US up!

– “ChiamaCI (= noi)!”
= Call US!
