Zuckerberg lancia “Threads”, il rivale di Twitter

Zuckerberg launches the Twitter rival, “Threads”

Grammar

Riuscire + CI = to succeed in doing something

“Twitter ha avuto la possibilità di farlo ma non ci è riuscito”
(Twitter had the opportunity to do it but didn’t succeed)

The Italian verb “riuscire” means “to succeed” or “to manage to do something” and it is often used with the particle “ci” to indicate success or the ability to achieve something.
The use of “ci” is similar to the use of the English word “it” in sentences like “Can you do it?” or “I can’t do it.”

For example:

  • Non ci riesco! (I can’t do it!)
  • Ci riuscirò (I will be able to do it)
  • Come ci sei riuscita? (How did you do it?)
  • Ci riuscirà? (Will he/she succeed?)

Translation

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, the company that manages Facebook and Instagram, has launched a new social network: Threads.

Threads is essentially a copy of Twitter and is specifically designed to challenge the social platform with the blue bird.

“We need an app for public conversation with over one billion people. Twitter had the opportunity to do it but didn’t succeed. We hope to succeed,” wrote Zuckerberg in his first message on the new social network.

Threads reached 10 million users within the first 7 hours and quickly surpassed 30 million subscribers.

Of course, Elon Musk, the recent owner of Twitter, didn’t take it very well…
