Bensì = “but rather”

“bensì è il frutto della valutazione dei 760mila utenti”
(but is the result of the evaluation of the platform’s 760,000 users)

“Bensì” is a conjunction that means “but rather” or “but instead”. It is used to introduce a statement that contrasts with or contradicts the preceding statement.

In the sentence above, “bensì” is used to contrast the fact that the ranking was not made by experts in the field, but rather by the evaluation of 760,000 users of the platform.

Here are some other examples:

  • Non sono andato al mare, bensì in montagna. (I didn’t go to the seaside, but rather to the mountains.)
  • Non ho mangiato la pizza, bensì la pasta al sugo. (I didn’t eat pizza, but rather pasta with sauce.)
  • Non è un cane, bensì un gatto. (It’s not a dog, but rather a cat.)
